How young can my child start dance classes?

We offer “You & Me” classes for dancers under the age of 3, with a guardian. This is a parent-assisted class where a guardian is required to actively participate and help facilitate the learning experience. Grown-ups will lead and follow alongside the instructor—participating in basic stretches and floorwork, guiding their dancer through classroom routines, and working collaboratively with the teacher to build trust and confidence. No dance attire needed; ballet shoes encouraged. Independent dance classes begin at age 3 (dancers must be fully potty-trained). Your dancer must meet the age guidelines for class by December 31st of the season.

How long is the dance season?

Our dance season starts Monday, August 4, 2025 and ends Saturday, June 27, 2026. This is a total of 47 weeks, but we only bill for 44 weeks, due to 3 weeks of studio closures (Winter Break & Spring Break). No make-up classes are offered for these 3 weeks, referred to as “No Class Days” (NCD). For other days in which the studio is closed, such as Labor Day and Memorial Day, make-up classes are available. These are referred to as “Make Up Days” (MUD).  Please see the ADFS Studio Calendar for studio closures throughout the season. Use the ADFS Make-up Class Request Form to schedule a make-up class.

How do I schedule a make-up class for my dancer?

Use the ADFS Make-up Class Request Form to schedule a make-up class. Check the ADFS LIVE schedule for class days and times.

How many classes does my dancer need to take?

Dancer success is a top priority at ADFS and supporting each dancer’s journey is our goal. Please see our progressions page included to design the best plan for your dancer.

What should my dancer do when they arrive for classes?

At arrival, expect to be greeted by our Front Desk Staff and other dancers. Dancers should immediately find a lobby cubby and change into their dance shoes (combo classes always start with tap). Keep dance bags and personal belongings in your cubby and bring all dance shoes needed for class with you to the line-up door. Wait with backs on the wall until your teacher greets you and escorts you into the dance studio. Parents do not need to check-in dancers at the Front Desk; your dancer’s instructor will take attendance daily.

What happens if my dancer is late to class?

If your Level I+ dancer is late to class, they must approach the instructor and say, “I am sorry I’m late; may I please take class?” before joining in. The instructor will give them cues on warm-up for safety, if needed. We understand tardiness can happen and that it is often beyond the dancer’s control. This policy helps teach responsibility and keeps the dancer safe while reducing classroom distractions.

What happens if I am late to pick up my dancer?

Your dancer’s safety is our top priority. If you are running late to pick-up, we ask that you call our Front Desk team so that we can make sure your dancer remains with our staff until you arrive. Dancers are never allowed to wait outside the studio for pick-up. In the event of frequent late pick-ups (longer than 15 minutes after class dismissal or closing business hours), ADFS reserves the right to charge your Studio Pro account $1/minute beyond the dancer’s dismissal time; a courtesy email will be sent before charges apply.

What happens if my dancer misses a dance class?

If your dancer is going to miss class, please log their absence in your Studio Pro Parent Portal to notify ADFS. You may schedule a “make-up class” for the absence during another class of the same level within two weeks, within the same season. Remember, regular attendance ensures the progression of not only your dancer but the entire class. We appreciate your dedication to making dance a priority. ADFS reserves the right to refuse service if the make-up class was not scheduled due to class sizes. A doctor’s note may be requested for frequent absences. ADFS reserves the right to refuse make-ups for frequent absences and may drop your dancers from a class if there are more than 3 absences in a row, with no refunds. Absence from class does not count towards the required 30-day notice required to cancel your dancer’s enrollment. You are responsible for all tuition until enrollment is canceled in writing. Make-ups cannot be guaranteed during recital preparation; your dedication to regular attendance during recital season ensures the success of your dancer and our show.

Why are Level I–IV dancers now required to take a minimum of two classes per week?

At ADFS, we are committed to fostering a strong foundation of technique, confidence, and community in every dancer. Starting this season, all dancers in Levels I–IV will be required to take a minimum of two classes per week. This new standard is designed with your dancer’s best interests at heart and supports our mission of providing high-quality training and a supportive studio environment. By attending at least two classes per week, your dancer will benefit from:

  • Improved technique & muscle memory through consistent, reinforced training
  • Stronger performance skills with more time to apply corrections and explore artistry
  • Increased confidence as they grow more secure in their abilities
  • Deeper friendships and a stronger sense of belonging with their peers
  • Broader exposure to faculty and styles, building versatility and adaptability
  • Greater readiness for performances, auditions, and future advancement

We believe this policy will greatly enrich your dancer’s experience and growth. If you have questions about which classes best complement your dancer’s schedule, our Front Desk team is happy to help!

Does my dancer need to take ballet for AcroDance?

Ballet is a prerequisite for any of our Acro classes. AcroDance is a high-intensity sport with excess demands on your growing dancer’s bones, joints, and muscles. Proper placement and technique are imperative to prevent injury and promote success and to guarantee your dancer’s safety, we require they be registered in Ballet simultaneously with any AcroDance class.

What happens if I want to drop or change a class for my dancer?

If you need to drop or change a class, please complete the ADFS Cancellation Notice. This form serves as your 30-day written notice of cancellation. Our staff will contact you to discuss other options for your dancer. Your feedback helps us improve our programs.

What happens if my dancer is injured?

If your dancer is injured during class or a studio event, staff will provide basic first aid and contact you. An Incident/Injury Report will be completed to document what happened. For serious injuries, emergency services will be called first, and you’ll be notified immediately. ADFS reserves the right to photograph any dancer injured for documentation purposes.

What should my dancer do if they feel sick during class?

For safety reasons, dancers are required to notify an ADFS staff member immediately if they feel unwell. Staff will assist with communication to parents and ensure proper documentation is made. Please remind your dancer not to text or call you directly without informing staff first.

Tuition is charged in advance for the upcoming month (ex., September tuition will be charged on August 25th). If you prefer to pre-pay with cash or check, please do so before the 25th of the month. How do referrals work?

Referrals are the #1 way we grow our dance and fitness family! Please spread the word to family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues. As a token of our appreciation, we are happy to reward you with a $5 studio credit for every referral! (Not valid for members of the same household.)

Do you have a Lost & Found?

Yes, in the Studio Lobby. Please remember to label ALL your dancer’s items to help us return lost items to your dancer. The Lost & Found is donated on the 1st of the month. ADFS is not responsible for lost items.

How do I receive studio information?

All correspondences are sent through email, using Studio Pro. Follow us on social media (@adfslv) to stay connected. We will notify you by email if important paper handouts are distributed to your dancer in class.  NEW: Stay in touch with our Studio BAND—directions on page 1 of the ADFS Handbook.
